There's No Place like School

Welcome to J.M. Amador Elementary School Amador Elementary, named after one of the first Spanish settlers, opened in August 2015 under the leadership of Holly Scroggins, a 30 plus year veteran of education and a seasoned administrator.

Amador is a state of the art facility that provides an exceptional educational opportunity to over 900 students in Dublin. Programs include Kindergarten, Special Day Classes and 1st through 5th Grades.  Amador Elementary School is the area's benchmark educational facility, exemplifying Dublin's already high standards for technology and instructional expertise. This new facility offers a large play space for students. Several of our classroom buildings have a 2nd floor. Outdoor learning space has also been incorporated into the design of the campus.  The new classroom spaces are cutting edge with the best of planning around technology that offer and support innovative teaching practices. There is great educational opportunity in this new building design.  It's all about supporting student collaboration and independence within their own learning.

Amador offers strong academic programs.  Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics will come to life using the Next Generation Science and Common Core Standards through the capable direction of Amador Elementary school staff.  Reading, writing, and the arts are the foundational elements and skill sets that students will utilize as they prepare for the 21st Century.  Students explore learning through hands-on experiences as they prepare to be the leaders, inventors, and positive contributors of our future.  In addition to the strong academic programs offered, Amador students have opportunities to participate in a variety of different initiatives including the school garden, safety patrol, student leadership, a Green Team. Afterschool enrichment programs will also be available such as art, science, and engineering.

Amador’s community strongly supports this new school as evidenced by the active participation of parents at the Parent Faculty meetings. All are welcome and invited to participate in the upcoming meetings!

Welcome to the Amador Elementary World of Learning.  We are a community united in serving every student, every day, in every classroom.  Go Owls!

Welcome to 4th Grade!

Aloha,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Christine Miller and I am excited to be your child’s fourth grade teacher.  During the year, I will be teaching your children math, science, language arts, social studies, art, and much more.

This is not only my 19th year of teaching, but I have been teaching alongside the incredible staff at Amador Elementary since its opening, August 2015. I have had the pleasure of teaching kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, and high school, throughout my profession.

Learning is in my blood. I earned my graduate degree from CSU, Chico and loved leading our District’s Next Generation Science Standards Training Program a few years ago. As a proud member of the California Teacher’s Science Association, I strive to instill my passion in the sciences through my DPIE classes and students abroad.

Outside of teaching I enjoy all things Hawaiian, turtles, gardening, scrap booking, deep sea fishing, scuba diving, kayaking, painting, swimming, out-door activities, cooking, movie going, and traveling. I grew up in San Jose, CA and moved to Chico where I finished college. I then moved and began my career in Yuba City, CA. Now, my family, all live together in Dublin. As you learn more about my family, I am excited to learn my students’ families and your wonderful adventures.

Throughout the year, it is important to have a strong parent-teacher relationship.  If at any time you have any questions or concerns please contact me.  You can email me at millerchristine@dublinusd.org or reach me via phone at (925) 307-1950 x6742.

I will be linking you all to our classroom website and homework site by Back to School Night.

I am thrilled to be starting on this year’s journey with your children!  I look forward to watching them learn, grow, and have a fantastic time in fourth grade!
